politics, politics....

so just when I thought that people at SFSU were over talking about the elections, and bush, and kerry I was proved wrong. In my Small Group Discussion class we were talking about methods for decision making and we got to the "majority" method which means 51%+ wins, and then the teacher talked about how the elections were like that- really close. and that just got everyone started on how bush cheated, there are stupid people out there who voted for him, etc etc...I just hate talking about politics in class. I don't really think it is 100% appropriate at times and living in the bay area, there is a certain bias and majority of democrats and what some people say just blows my mind! Like last week, the day after the elections this girl in another class said that the rest of America is stupid and that she would be so happy if California or the west coast detached and became it's own country. (yikes!!!). I know they have opinions and are angry about the election outcome but do they even hear themselves? I mean, not EVERYONE has the same opinion, political backround, etc....for a place and school where we are supposed to celebrate diversity, people sure seem to give the impression of- I'm right, everyone else is wrong. anywho, just had to vent that. oh, one more thing- i got an email about how Bush is going to appoint Dr. Hager, who is labeled as the religious- anti-contraception freak- and I had gotten this email once before long ago. And I read it, and was ready to sign up when I thought, Research this guy, and the issue- so I did some google searching and found that this petition is like 2 years old, the guy is already on the FDA committee, not as the Chair, just as an advisor. there was all sorts of interesting info out there on him- check it out- go to google and type in "david Hager" and on the first page you will have some really interesting articles. Also, when you are done looking at those, search for "FDA Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee" click on the first link, and it will show who is the chair, and advisors and how long their terms are. ok, i'm done :)

Wear Sunscreen

Today I had my last formal speech to give. It was a sales speech, and I was selling Neutrogena sunscreen. It went pretty well, I am so happy I'm done with this last speech. The only speech left is our impromptu speech, and for those of you who don't know, an impromptu speech is when you have to give a speech wil 0-3 minute prep time. So for this one he'll give us 3 topics (from his choosing) and send us outside to pick one and create a 3-4 minute speech about that topic. Scary huh?

Last night I went to Italy

Last night I had a dream that my mom and I just picked up and went to Italy. And when we got there I realized that Greg was going to be coming over after work and we didn't leave a note or anything. So we try to find a payphone so I can call him, but we can't find any. Then we walk into this little pastry shop to see if they know where a payphone is. We go in, and everyone who is eating there has a bunch of like cinnamon rolls. We ask the guy if there is a payphone nearby, he responds in English, "no, but you can use my phone here." I said, "wow, that is very nice of you." Then he asks me for the number that i want to call in America, and I am like writing all these weird numbers, a 1-888 number, and a bunch of others. And he is getting all confused as to which numbers he has to dial, plus I don't think he could read my handwriting very well. Then, all of a sudden- this family walks in and the daughter is an old high school friend- Kate! I jump up and run over and give her a big hug. Ask how she is doing, yada yada...and after that we never made the phone call and ended up exploring Italy. I vaguely remember the rest of the dream....there were fields, bridges,...ahh the rest is a blur.

my sister likes porn

so my mom came across a box in the closet with a bunch of books and then saw these two porno-type magazines.

at first she thought they were karina's, my sister, and was like- this explains why she is obsessed with hookers, prostitutes, etc. so she confronts karina about it and karina looks at the box and is like, this isn;t mine, i don't read star trek. haha.

so then she (mom) asks me on the phone if it is mine, i say- the magazine are not mine- they were from chico, the girls up there. but it was so funny cuz i guess mom said to karina "you know you can get additcted to that stuff.." haha!

voting

ahh the big day. but man how stressful it was to actually go vote. I live in Redwood City, but work and go to school in San Francisco, and I was in SF from 7am-7pm, so I was racing home to get to my polling place ontime. Then I get there, and I have my little pamphlet and I give the lady at the desk my address and she says, "oh, you want that table." so i go there, and they say, "oh, try that table." so back i go to the first table and once again i am sent to the other table. Grr...finally they find my street in their silly book, but my name is not there. My sister's name is there, but not me. why...i don't know. I registered. So i had to take one of those mailing envelopes and put my ballot in their. But I didn't get a sticker :( oh well...in other news I developed my Halloween film, some really cool pics. But I have to get Greg to bring over his scanner so I can post them here for ya'll to see. :) Well, time for bed. Nite!
