Bowling and Monsters Inc.
What a fun-filled weekend. Thursday night I went out with coworkers to celebrate Claire's last day and her engagenment to John- horray! We went to Serra Bowl in Daly City. It's a pretty cool place, has a bar, kareoke, pool tables, air hockey, and of course bowling. We started out by hanging in the "game" area, played some pool with Marie and Chris which was fun. Then they closed that whole area at 10pm (lame) so we finally started bowling. I had a terrible first game, didn't even break 100! We all had fun, people doing little bowling tricks, Marie walking out onto the lane was funny, and Adam bowling in barefeet was also entertaining. Most of us started leaving around midnight, too bad cuz that's when the closing crew of Borders usually starts to arrive, oh well. I gave Marie a ride home, she doesn't give very good directions, we got lost a few times. lol. I made it home by 1am, and not too long after Greg came home too.
Our store is under construction right now so we have construction guys there at night until early in the morning. On Wednesday I decided to bake stuff for them and the Borders peeps who are also helping. The thing though is that usually I start work at 7am on Fridays, but I forgot that I had requested this Friday off. So I wouldn't be there to give the guys their goodies. I figured I would go in anyway, but when that alarm rang at 5 or 6am I just couldn't do it. Since I knew that I wasn't scheduled to work, I just decided to sleep. It was nice. I'll try to bring in stuff on Monday.
Now the reason i requested Friday off was so that Claire, Beth and I could go see Monsters Inc. on ice at the HP Pavillion. The show started at 3:30pm, so I went to get Beth first in Vacaville at 11am, then as we headed into SF to get Claire, I called her to find out that she was hungover/sick and couldn't go :( bummer. So it was just me and Beth. We stoped for lunch at Red Robin, then continued to San Jose. It wasn't very crowded at our matinee show, and we had pretty good seats. We were both curious about how the show was going to be- were they going to tell the whole story of the movie or was it going to be a musical thing...we had no idea. Well, we found out that for this show they chopped up scenes, put them in odd orders, cut out a lot of stuff and added in these two odd skating sequences that were totally out of place. The first was with the CDA (child detection agency) and they skated around to a remix of the Beatles "Help." Then, during the scene where Mike and Sully get banished in the snow, they had Mikey hit his head, go into a daydream where these ice-snowflake girls showed up and skated around to "Frosty the Snowman" How odd is that? I leaned over and asked Beth if we were at the right show. Hehe. Anywho, the show was overall kinda weird, not what I expected. But there was some cool stuff, like how they created the scenes with the doors an stuff- that was cool.
