Rock out!!!!

Yesterday at work there were free tickets available to go see System of a Down at the Filmore at 8pm. I'm not a HUGE fan, but I know and like a few of their songs, so I signed up for the tickets. Then I needed someone to go with me. Someone told me that my coworker Timm is a HUGE fan and even tried to buy tickets but it was sold out. Of course when I offered him to go with me he was bouncing around going "yeah!"

I haven't been to a concert in so long, especially one like System of a Down, and where I'll be standing in a swarm of sweaty people that are bouncing all over rocking out. It brought back so many memories of when Karina and I went to concerts during high school. Of course these days, in my old age *wink*, I'm a bit more mellow. Not putting myself right in the middle of the pit, Timm and I stayed further back and to the side. It was fun. Leaving the place though was super gross. They only have 1 exit and everyone is trying to get to it, and were squished uo next to these gross, sweaty bodies. EWWWWW!! It was freaking me out. Once we got to the door we got free posters and headed to my car (that took a little effort form e to parallel park it) and headed home. It was an early show, I was home and in bed by 11:30pm- not to bad for a school night. ;)

Honors Baby!!!

A week or so ago, one of my teachers approached me, and told me that every year the department gets together to nominate outstanding undergrad students, and that I was a nominee. Over the weekend, I recieved a letter from our SFSU President, Mr. Corrigan, informing me of my honor status, and that I am invited to a special ceremony to receive my honor award. I am so proud of me *pats for tree* Another item to add to the old resume.

Oh, and I have decided to attend the official SFSU Commencement ceremony. I was leaning toward not going, but my Grandma will be visiting us from Germany, and she would like to attend. It;s cool, a small part of me wants to do the whole cap and gown thing, and hopefully the speakers will be really cool and amusing for the 3 hours we'll be sitting there. Then after the ceremony is our Speech Department's individual after-party which should be fun.

AND, I have decided to not have my graduation party on graduation day- because I graduate on Memorial Day Weekend, and a few people I already know won't be around, and I just figured to change the date, so this way more people can go. So the next weekend, June 4th, we'll party til were purple!! Well that's all I have for now- g-nite!

Yosemite

On Friday Greg and I decided to drive to Yosemite for a one-day hiking adventure. We had an adventure all right. As we were driving out to the park, the weather was cloudy and rainy at times. We didn't think it would be a big deal, until we entered the park and it started to snow! We couldn't believe it. Greg was hysterical with excitement, I wasn't as much because we had no snow clothes and we were totally unprepared for this. We hung out for a little bit, drove up to the lodge and gift store area. We walked around there, I got a shot-glass souvenier, and then we went to the main lodge where they had road conditions posted. Our only way out of the park required chains on all vehicles. Luckily Yosemite has a "garage" for all your car-problems. We waited in line to buy chains (probably overpriced), and paid to have them put the chains on since neither of us had done it before. We had to take the CRX and wait in a car-line to get the chains put on. We waited for 1 hour, then we finally made it to the front, got the chains on, and headed home.

The shity thing was that as we were exiting the park, the roads were mostly covered in slushy/watery snow- not even real, hard-packed snow. So basically the park extorted us into buying chains. And we couldn't have said "no" becuase there was a ranger right near the lodges to check if you had chains, and he'd send you back if you didn't have them. Oh well, at least we have some for next time. On the way out of the park though we stopped a lot to take in the sights and take pictures. It was really beautiful seeing the park covered in snow.

Silly Blog

Man it has taken me forever to sign onto my blog so I can post stuff! I forgot my password and though I asked them to send me the email so I could change it, they never sent an email. Finally after going through blog support I got the email and have access to my blogs- yay! So, Spring Break was last week. Didn't do anything all to exciting, mostly worked. And the weather that week was shity so I couldn't go to the beach. This week it's been really nice.

OH- I have to share this story about Borders. Last Friday I was supposed to work 7am-3pm, and I get there around 7am, and the rest of the morning crew is still outside waiting for a manager or supervisor to open the doors. We figure someone is just running a few minutes late. Oh-ho-no...try hours late. We stood outside until 7:40am, decided to walk over to Starbucks inside the mall and get some munchies, then around 8am we decide to head back, since the 8am crew will be starting and we hope a manager or supervisor is scheduled at that time so we can get in. Nope. We get back to Borders to find the whole 8am crew waiting outside. Luckily someone actually had the phone number of someone helpful, our GM- Carla. She wasn't too happy, obviously, and we got someone to come and let us in. We didn't get in until about 8:40am....1 hour and 40 minutes after we were supposed to start work, and only 20 minutes before we are supposed to open the store! Everything was okay though, and it was the talk of the day at Borders. On that same day the sun came out and Marie and I went to the beach to eat lunch. It was so nice, we didn't want to go back to work.
